A foreigner is entitled to unemployment benefits if they have been covered by unemployment insurance for at least two years in the four years preceding their registration as a job seeker.
Eligibility for unemployment benefits is dependent on social insurance coverage and, at the same time, on registration as a job seeker.
Without being granted long-term residence in the Slovak Republic, a foreigner is ineligible for inclusion in the job seeker register and consequently cannot apply for unemployment benefits.
Unemployment benefits are generally paid for a period of six months. If this period expires during a crisis, it shall be extended by one month.
