The obligation to enrol a child in compulsory educational attendance applies only to the legal representative whose child has permanent residence in the Slovak Republic. If a child has temporary residence or tolerated stay in the Slovak Republic, the law does not require the child to attend elementary school.

The University of Žilina runs its own university kindergarten. The kindergarten focuses on the natural sciences, technology, and physical activity. It provides high-quality and slightly unconventional pre-school education not only for the children of employees and students, but also for the general public. Children can visit the university’s academic and outreach facilities, thus developing a positive attitude toward science and technology and learning through discovery.
Through our unique STEAM educational concept, research-oriented activities, and simple experiments, we foster children’s creativity and communication within the group, as well as their development in language, polytechnics, physical activity, and the arts.
