On March 27–29, 2026, the Hackathon took place: an intensive 54-hour creative event that brought together data, technology, and creativity with the goal of designing innovative solutions to improve traffic safety and quality of life in the city of Žilina. Participants had the opportunity to work individually or in teams, with the support of mentors and experts, and to utilize open transportation data and data from sensor networks made available through the EnCLOD project.
They designed and developed solutions addressing the city’s real-world challenges in areas such as traffic safety, mobility, road user behaviour, public space, and sustainability. Emphasis was placed on multidisciplinary collaboration, which resulted not only in technical solutions but also in conceptual proposals, methodologies, analytical perspectives, and recommendations that can be used in the further development of Žilina’s data-driven transportation policy.
