Faculties

    The Faculty provides higher education in all three levels of education in the fields of study Transport and Economics and Management, in accredited study programmes: Road Transport, Railway Transport, Air Transport, Professional Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Water Transport, Distribution Technologies and Services, Postal Engineering, Forwarding and Logistics, Transport Services in Passenger Transport, Transport Technique and Technology, Expertise in Road Transport, Economics and Management of Enterprise, Financial Management, Electronic Business and Management, Economics of Transport, Communications and Services.

    The orientation of science and education at the faculty can be divided into the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Machines and Equipment Design, Energy Machines and Equipment, Renewable Energy Sources, Transport and Handling Machines, Industrial Engineering, Automation of Production Systems and Management of Technological Processes and Renewal and Maintenance of Machines and Equipment.

    Scientific-research and educational activities focus on information and communication technologies applied in the field of safety-related control of transport and industry processes, modern telecommunication technologies, development of power electronic systems and modern control of electric networks. Additionally, such interdisciplinary fields as mechatronic and biomedical engineering are also developed.

    The faculty develops educational and scientific-research activities in the field of highway, railway and building engineering, civil engineering structures, transport planning, construction technology and management, as well as in related areas forming the theoretical foundations of these activities – structural mechanics, elasticity and plasticity, geodesy, geotechnics, hydraulics, hydrology, building physics, material engineering.

    The faculty focuses on education of crisis managers, workers of fire brigades and rescue services, experts dealing with management of processes concerning the protection of people and property in all areas of social life and managers of transport security in crisis situations.

    The uniqueness of the faculty lies above all in a combination of study programmes that offer top-level education in the field of informatics, computer engineering and management at one place. The combination of these areas of education and research supported by zealous and competent professionals creates the conditions that ensure a sustainable success of the faculty.

    The mission of the Faculty of Humanities is to develop education, science and research in the perspective of humanities and their traditions, and through a wider range of humanities to contribute to the credit of the University of Žilina as a high quality research University.
