The supervisor evaluates the status and level of completion of the doctoral student's study program, compliance with deadlines, awards credits and, if necessary, submits a proposal to modify his/her individual study program. The dean decides, based on the annual evaluation of the doctoral student, whether the doctoral student can continue his/her studies, as well as any changes in his/her study program. A doctoral student can request to interrupt his/her doctoral studies (even repeatedly) in both the standard and the extra-standard length of study due to maternity leave, health reasons, because of his/her study stay abroad, which is not part of his individual study plan, or other serious reasons. During the interruption of studies, the doctoral student loses the rights and obligations of a student. The supervisor comments on the doctoral student's request to interrupt his/her studies. Interruption of studies is permitted by the dean. As a rule, the total time of interruption of doctoral studies does not exceed 18 months. In special, justified cases, e.g. during the next maternity leave, the dean may decide to suspend doctoral studies for a longer period of time, but not more than 36 months. If a doctoral student in the part-time form of doctoral studies during the academic year grossly neglects the obligations arising from the individual study plan, the dean of the faculty may, on the basis of the supervisor's proposal, with the approval of the departmental committee, or of the working group or SOK to exclude a doctoral student from doctoral studies (§ 66, paragraph 1, letter c) of the Act on Higher Education), while the decision on exclusion from studies becomes final on the day of delivery, or on the day of return of the parcel by post (§ 66 paragraph 2 of the Act on Higher Education). |

b | Characteristics of the study programme information management (access to study literature according to Course information sheets, access to information databases and other information sources, information technologies, etc.) |
At the university level, processes, procedures and structures are defined by Directive no. 217 Resources to support the educational, creative and other related activities of the University of Žilina (https://www.uniza.sk/images/pdf/kvalita/2021/smernica-UNIZA-c-217.pdf). Access to study literature: The University Library of the University of Žilina (UK UNIZA http://ukzu.uniza.sk/) is a central workplace providing complex library and information activities within the framework of profiling UNIZA, its individual fields of study and study subjects by acquiring and making available professional monographs, textbooks, scripts, standards, gazettes, legislative documents, periodical literature, statistical reviews and yearbooks, language and professional dictionaries, encyclopedias, electronic information carriers, electronic information sources, electronic books. Together with the sub-libraries, UK UNIZA reached 215,398 library units, purchased 241 titles of periodicals, of which 118 were foreign titles. The annual increase was 3,408 library units. Foreign titles in foreign languages ??represent approximately 60% of the library's total collection. It has 3,032 audiovisual and electronic units in its fund, including 154 digital books and electronic scripts/learning texts. For users, UK UNIZA has 3 study rooms with a capacity of 216 study places. 3 quiet boxes have been added for studying in a separate quiet space for individuals or groups of up to 10 users. Quiet boxes allow Internet connection with your own PC with the option of renting a data projector and printing materials. The quiet boxes have flipcharts and a wall board. There is a workplace for readers with disabilities in the premises of the rental office. In addition to electrically adjustable desks, there is a specially adapted computer with voice input, a special keyboard and a program to facilitate learning. Barrier-free entrance is provided to these premises. In front of the entrance to the library, there is a smart bench with the possibility to connect to Wi-Fi, charge your phone and other mobile devices. 21,172 library items (basic study literature, electronic and audio-visual documents, final and qualification theses, standards) and periodical literature are freely available for face-to-face study in the study halls. Electronic databases corresponding to the subject profile of the university are accessible in the study rooms (also via other IP addresses of the university) - a total of 14 databases, mostly providing access to full-text resources. Part of the service offer is access to the standards database with multiple entries for individual faculties. The number of searches in the EIZ is 163,195. The number of downloaded/displayed electronic documents from the fund is 96,047. The university library manages its own website, Facebook and Instagram. In addition to the library fund in the UK, the departments have established sub-libraries (in the number of 109 sub-libraries) with the possibility of borrowing for students. FPEDAS teachers try to make as much information as possible available to students, which is why they publish part of the study literature in electronic form. Chapters from scripts, presentations from lectures, graphs and methodological procedures necessary for exercises are published by teachers in the university e-learning system. Through the university publishing house EDIS, FPEDAS teachers publish author's works - monographs, university textbooks and scripts, which are based on the needs of securing individual study subjects. The university publishes its own journals: https://www.uniza.sk/index.php/vedci-a-partneri/vyskumne-zazemie/vedecke-casopysy
Students can use databases subscribed by the university such as: WOS, SCOPUS, Springer Online, Oxford Publishing, Science Direct, , Wileys, etc.
The basic information system for the education and teaching process is the Academic Information and Education System at ŽU. AIVS is available for students from the university domain and from the Internet. It covers the detached workplaces of the university. The university WiFi network supports EDUROAM. Currently, AIVS covers the entire life cycle of a university student with its services, from the submission of an application to the final exam and activities related to the completion of studies at the university. AIVS supports the management of the study agenda at the faculties and other parts of the university, in all levels, forms and types of higher education, as well as decision-making at the level of the faculty leadership. It is used to record study applicants, students and graduates, to track study results, to support the credit system of studies in accordance with § 62 of Act 131/2002 Coll., to support the creation of a timetable, to record the pedagogical workload of teachers and workplaces, the provision of social benefits , scholarships and accommodation. It supports the generation of ECTS information packages (§ 20 paragraph 1 letter e), activities related to the completion of studies (certificates, diplomas), as well as the processing of addenda to diplomas (§ 68 paragraph 1 letter c).
AIVS is integrated with other information systems that are part of the university intranet, such as the university library (records of final theses, verification of final theses for originality), accommodation (waiting list, accommodation, payment records...), issuance of student ID and management of student IDs, access system, user management (identity management), attendance system (doctoral student attendance). AIVS is connected with the system of university e-mail addresses of students and with applications for digital certificate and electronic signature in selected services of AIVS - logging into the system, signing documents (e.g. exam reports, final theses,...).
In terms of UNIZA, e-education is built on the basis of LMS Moodle. The organization of the courses is based on controlled study with the support of information and communication technologies in close connection with the Academic Education and Information System. E-learning has been used at the university since the academic year 2004/2005. (https://uniza.sk/index.php/studenti/prakticke-informacie/e-vzdelavanie).
All classrooms and laboratories in which the students of the economics of transport, communications and services study program are taught have unlimited access to the Internet through the university network. UNIZA operates its own Wi-Fi network. By connecting to the university Wi-Fi network, which is accessible in all UNIZA premises, students gain free access to the UNIZA and FPEDAS websites and access to the Internet, and thus also to the faculty FB. The university WiFi network supports EDUROAM. UNIZA students also have access to the Microsoft Office 365 software package. The student license allows them to use the web and desktop applications of the Office 365 package throughout their studies. The University of Žilina is also the owner of the Total Academic Headcount (TAH) license for MATLAB & Simulink (https://ikt.uniza.sk/uniza-wiki/category/software/matlab/). 9. | Required abilities and admission requirements for the study programme applicants
a | Required abilities and necessary admission requirements
The required skills and prerequisites for admission to study are listed in the following documents: - information leaflet on accredited study programs (doctoral studies) offered for the academic year 2022/2023 (https://www.uniza.sk/images/pdf/INFOLETAKY-akreditovanych-studijnych-programov/programy-2022-2023/FPEDAS/FPEDAS- PHD-2022-2023-3.pdf); - Directive no. 110 Study schedule for the third degree of university studies at the University of Žilina (https://fpedas.uniza.sk/images/doktorandske_studium/smernica_110_stud_por_pre_3_st_v_zneni_dod_1_a_3.pdf); - orders and methodological guidelines of the dean of the faculty on the website of the faculty. Basic condition for admission to study The basic condition for admission to doctoral studies (third-level study program) is the acquisition of a second-level university education (Act on Universities No. 131/2002 Coll., as amended) within the given field of study. In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his studies abroad, he submits to the application for university studies, no later than when enrolling for studies, a decision on the recognition of a document of completion of a second-level university education by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic, or apply to UNIZA for recognition of the education document. An applicant who does not demonstrate fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to study at the time of verification of fulfilment of the conditions for admission may be admitted to study conditionally, with the obligation to demonstrate fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to study at the latest on the day designated for enrolment. Additional terms of acceptance Tender All study applicants go through a selection process. For applicants coming from practice, the faculty takes into account their abilities and assumptions resulting from the focus of their practice for the last 2 years at least.
Rules of the selection procedure The entrance exam takes place before the admission committee in the given study program, which has at least four members. The admission committee consists of its chair and at least two members appointed by the dean. Another member of the committee is the trainer for the listed topic. The content of the entrance exam is:
The admission committee evaluates the result of the entrance exam in a closed session with the conclusion "passed" or "failed". If several applicants were registered for one topic, they will be ranked according to the success of the entrance exam. When determining the ranking, the commission also takes into account the scope and quality of the applicant's previous professional publication activity and the results of his other professional activity (e.g. results in competitions for student scientific, professional or artistic works, professional experience, etc.). At the same time, it will determine the order of all successful applicants. The committee submits the recommended proposal of successful applicants for admission to the dean. The dean will decide on the admission of the applicant within 30 days from the date of the entrance exam. If he decides to accept the applicant, he/she will also state the name of the supervisor and the topic of the dissertation in his decision. In addition to the above, the written decision must contain a statement, justification, instructions on the possibility of submitting a request for review of the decision and is delivered to the applicant personally. An applicant who has received a decision not to be admitted to doctoral studies may submit a request for a review of this decision to the dean. If the dean does not change his/her decision, he/she forwards the request for review of the decision to the rector (Section 58 paragraph 8 of the Act on Higher Education). By announcing the decision on admission to study, the applicant has the right to enrol in studies. Medical fitness The faculty does not require a medical certificate of medical fitness for university studies and accepts applications without a medical certificate.
For foreign applicants, the same admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students who study in a language other than the state language pay school fees according to the conditions specified in § 92 par. 8 of the Act on Universities. Tuition fees are determined by the UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the university's website. Foreign students who study in the Slovak language (full-time studies) do not pay school fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic can use the form valid in the Czech Republic to submit their study application. Applicants who do not actively speak Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (with the option of completing it at UNIZA). For foreign applicants accepted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral contracts or scholarship holders of the Slovak government, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.
At the faculty level, the principles and rules of the admission procedure are published on the faculty's website: https://www.uniza.sk/images/pdf/INFOLETAKY-akreditovanych-studijnych-programov/programy-2022-2023/FPEDAS/FPEDAS-PHD-2022-2023-3.pdf, including a list of topics listed by supervisors and approved by the union committee (https://fpedas.uniza.sk/sk/uchadzaci/moznosti-studia/doktorandske-studium). |

b | Results of student feedback and related measures to improve the study programme quality |
N/A |
|
c | Results of graduate feedback and related measures to improve the study programme quality |
The Faculty monitors the opinions of graduates at the level of study programs, and thus also of the Economics of Transport, Communications and Services program via the portal: https://fpedas.uniza.sk/~dotaznik/, where the results are evaluated electronically and then published in the Annual Report on FPEDAS activities in part 2. 7 Graduates and their application. Despite the faculty's efforts to obtain relevant data from graduates, interest in completing the questionnaire has been low in recent years. The application of the graduates is also determined by their supervisors, as the contact between the doctoral graduate and his supervisor is very intense and immediate.
The results of feedback from graduates are evaluated at work meetings of the departments that provide the given study program and at meetings of the Dean's College, where measures are taken in connection with the information received from graduates. |
